What we stock, what it measures, and what it will not tell you

We are an online air quality shop selling across Europe. The range is deliberately narrow: monitors that tell you how well a room is ventilated, ozone machines for dealing with odours, and a handful of accessories. No showroom, no installation service, no consultancy.

Most pages like this one list every benefit of clean air and leave you no better informed about which product to buy. This one tries to do the opposite, starting with the part most shops leave out.

What we do not sell

Worth clearing up first, because "air quality" covers a lot of ground and our range covers a slice of it.

We do not sell particulate meters. Nothing here measures PM2.5 or PM10, so if you are chasing dust, smoke or pollen you need a different instrument. We do not sell VOC meters. We do not sell filter based air purifiers, the kind with a HEPA cartridge you replace: our air treatment products are ozone machines, which work in a completely different way and are used in empty rooms. And we do not sell certified respiratory protective equipment. Our face coverings and visors carry no protective standard.

CO2 monitors, and why carbon dioxide

Carbon dioxide is the most useful single number for ventilation, and it is useful for a mundane reason: people are the source. You breathe it out all day, so in a room where fresh air is not replacing what is there, the level climbs in a way that tracks the airflow.

The reference points are simple. Outdoor air sits around 400 to 420 ppm. A room with air genuinely moving through it usually stays under 800 ppm. Above roughly 1000 to 1500 ppm, the room is largely recycling the air already in it.

Those are ventilation benchmarks, not health thresholds, and a CO2 reading is not a verdict on whether air is safe. It tells you how much fresh air is getting in. That is a genuinely useful thing to know and it is all it tells you.

We stock two: a palm sized portable meter with an alarm, and a jumbo wall mounted display for rooms where a desk unit is too small to be read. Both cover carbon dioxide, temperature and humidity.

Ozone machines are not air purifiers

This is the distinction that causes the most confusion, so it is worth stating plainly. A filter based purifier draws air through a physical filter and can run in a room while you sit in it. An ozone machine generates ozone, which is a reactive gas used to break down odours.

Ozone is a respiratory irritant. An ozone machine is used in an empty room or vehicle, with the space aired out before anyone goes back in. It is a treatment you apply and leave, not something that runs in the background. Used that way it is very effective on stubborn smells that cleaning will not shift. Used in an occupied room it is a bad idea.

Choosing a monitor

Two questions decide it. Who needs to read it, and does it need to stay in one place.

If one person wants to check a few rooms, or take a reading in a rented flat, an office and a car, the portable meter is the right buy. If a room full of people needs to see the number, put the jumbo on the wall. A reading nobody can see from their desk gets checked once a week; a reading on the wall gets acted on by whoever is nearest the window.

One monitor describes one ventilated space. A room with its own door, windows and vents behaves differently from the one beside it, so if you are covering a school or an office floor, count separately ventilated rooms rather than square metres.

Testing your own home

You do not need a survey. Put a meter at head height in a room you use, away from the window and away from a doorway, and leave it for a day.

The bedroom is usually the revelation. A closed room with two people asleep in it climbs steadily overnight, and the morning reading surprises most people. The other worthwhile test takes two minutes: note the number, open a window, and watch what happens. If it drops quickly the room ventilates fine and just needed it. If it barely moves, the airflow is not where you assumed, and that is worth knowing before you spend money on anything else.
